Ik kreeg een bericht van Synology dat ze mijn (en vast ook van anderen) request voor exFAT ondersteuning gehonoreerd hadden.
Er is nu een Package die exFAT ondersteuning verzorgt.
Helaas nog niet voor mijn DS214play (andere processor), maar dat komt nog wel.

Although is already included in the first link I provide, here you will also find some important aspects we would like to inform you regarding the payment of the fee for Microsoft:
Software authorization can only be designated to a single Synology Account and can only be used on a single NAS. A new license must be purchased for each individual NAS if multiple NAS are to be used. Additionally, licenses cannot be migrated to another Synology Account or NAS. If you wish to use another Synology Account or NAS, a new license must be purchased. However, if there is an existing license on a NAS returned to Synology and you would like to transfer the license to your repaired NAS, please provide (1) your Synology Account, (2) the serial number of the NAS returned to Synology, and (3) the serial number of the repaired NAS returned to you to the Synology Support Team. Microsoft exFAT (Extended File Allocation Table) Technology is a file system optimized for flash drives and installing this package will allow your NAS to access an external storage device that is formatted in exFAT. Unlike FAT32, the Microsoft exFAT Technology allows for individual files larger than 4GB. The exFAT file system is supported in both Windows and Mac OS X.

I would also like to include in this mail some other information and answers to possible questions:
1.   Why it’s not free? The reason is because exFAT is a patented file system so to pay royalty fee to Microsoft is needed. Synology offers now the possibility to all our customers who might need it.
2.   For the moment it can only be purchased by PayPal as it is the most common payment solution but we are working on providing other online payment solution.
3.   Regarding the license duration: It’s permanent ... so you just enjoy your Synology NAS and all its capabilities!

Dat heeft zeker lang geduurd maar, zal aan MS gelegen hebben maar goed, voor een paar Euro heb je het dan toch.

Maar, dat zou je dan alleen gebruiken voor SD kaarten in de NAS? Ik heb twee NASsen met zo'n SD slot, maar heb deze functie nog nooit gebruikt. Ik vindt kopieren via de computer veel makkelijker.

Het kan wel makkelijk zijn om wat op je NAS te kunnen dumpen zonder de PC op te hoeven starten.
Ook familie kan dat doen. Al; is de behoefte nu wat minder omdat de PC gewoon heel snel opstart met een SSD e.d.

Je kun dan de autocopy functie gebruiken, via de knop kopieer je dan de inhoud naar een toegewezen share.
De nieuwe grote SD kaarten (64GB) zijn tegenwoordig in exFAT geformatteerd.
