CS 407 Raid 5 Probleem

Hallo allemaal,
Na een hardware en firmware upgrade te hebben gedaan van mijn CS407,
ondervind ik problemen met m'n raid 5 configuratie.

Hieronder een overzicht van mijn recente systeem configuratie

Firmware :
DSM 2.0-0598

Hdd setup:
Hdd 1, Western Digital WD10000FYPS RE2-GP 1000GB,
Hdd 2, Western Digital WD10000FYPS RE2-GP 1000GB,
Hdd 3, Western Digital WD10000FYPS RE2-GP 1000GB,
Hdd 4, Western Digital WD10000FYPS RE2-GP 1000GB,

Het probleem,
Ik heb een nieuwe raid 5 array aangemaakt en gebruik deze array al zo 'n 3 weken.
Omdat het de laaste tijd zo vaak onweert in de buurt sluit ik regelmatig de cs407 af om beschadiging van blikseminslag te voorkomen
1,5 week geleden kreeg ik na het opstarten van de CS een melding dat de raid 5 configuratie beschadigd was.
het bleek disk 4 te zijn. de synology gaf aan:  "Om gegevensverlies te voorkomen, moet u het volume repareren"
echter werkte de knop repareren niet omdat disk 4 niet geinitilialiseerd bleek te zijn.
ik sloot de CS af en checkte alle kabels en starte hem weer op, nu stond de knop repareren er wel dus repareerde ik het volume.
na 13 uur was deze weer in goede staat.

Afgelopen week heb ik de CS nog een aantal keer uit gehad om beschadiging van blikseminslag te voorkomen,
tijdens het opstarten heb ik toen geen problemen ondervonden.
Tot vanochtend, ik starte de CS op en helaas weer het zelfde!
Een beschadigde Raid 5
Ik realiseer mij nu het volgende: de afgelopen keren dat het goed ging heb ik de CS via de web interface afgesloten,
gisteren heb ik echter de aan/uit knop aan de voorzijde gebruikt om de CS af te sluiten.

Zit er misschien een bug in de software van de CS, die ervoor zorgt dat de hdd's niet goed afsluiten indien de hdd's in hibernate staan
en er op de aan/uitknop aan de voorzijde word gebruikt?

Of zit het  'm mischien in dat de Green WD harde schijven niet compatible zijn met het afsluitproces van de CS vanuit hibernate?
en word het probleem verholpen door bij Green WD harde schijven de hibernate mode van de CS uit te schakelen?

Of is het gewoon simpelweg een Hardware probleem? (moederbord CS, Sata controller of HDD)?

Please help me out!  want iedere keer rebuilden na een reboot lijkt mij toch overbodig :'-(

Was het de tweede keer ook disk 4? Er zijn bij ons geen compatibiliteitsproblemen met WD GP schijven bekend. Wellicht is het handig om het support formulier op Synology.com even in te vullen. Je omschrijft wat er gebeurt vrij nauwkeurig, en misschien is het inderdaad een bug. In dat geval is het handig als Synology support hierover hoort, want zij zijn de enige die bugs ook echt kunnen oplossen.

Heb je ook nagekeken of alle kabels ook in de juiste volgorde zijn aangesloten? Dus dat voeding en datakabels corresponderen?

ik zal de reactie afwachten en jullie op de hoogte houden van de ontwikkelingen met mijn 4 TB configuratie

Indien jullie ervaringen of oplossingen hebben hoor ik deze graag van jullie

Case:
I'm having trouble with my new raid 5 configuration after a harddisk and firmware upgrade,

My new configuration is the one below

Firmware :

The problem,
I've bought 3 WD1000FYPS RE2-GP harddisks on the reseller's site to create a 3TB raid 5 configuration.
Created it with succes and used it for three weeks. Since there's bad weather with lightning a lot i decided to shut down the CS to avoid damage from lightning.
a few week ago i booted up the CS after bad weater, and the CS gave me a sign that the raid 5 configuration was damaged.
it seems to be that disk 4 was not initiallised, and i readed te note: Repear the raid 5 coniguration to prevent dataloss.
 
The repear button was not showed so i assumed that disk 4 was broken.
but after a cable check inside and a reboot the CS showed the repear button.
so i decided to reapair the raid 5 configuration, witch was a long go. 13 hours

So far so good, until there was bad weather again 3 weeks ago.
i decided to shut the CS down serval time's in those week.
and i did not had any problem.
 
Until a week ago, i booted up the CS and again the raid 5 was broken!
 
But then i realised the following, the moments i shuted down the CS troughout the interface it always booted up correct again.
but when i shutted the CS down (by pressing the front side button) and the harddisks has to come out of hibernate the raid 5 configuration gets broken!
 
Is there a bug in the firmware of the CS wich doesn't shut the disks properly down when they have to come from hiberation by pressing the frontside power button,
or are the the disks not fully compatible with the CS.
 
On the synology wikipedia the disk shows up compatible and the following link say's there is someone else having the same configuration: http://www.synology.com/wiki/index.php/ ... ID_Edition

Please help me out, cause repearing the raid 5 volume again and again is not a nice job to do

Dear Delano,

Can you check out a few things for us?
1. Can you tell me which choice in the attached picture if your motherboard?
2. When your volume is degraded, which disk will fail? Is it always the same disk?
3. Please help to provide us with the Kernel Log. To obtain the Kernel Log please follow the steps below:

a. Log in to Management UI.
b. You will see a link similar to: http://192.168.1.49:5000/webman/index.cgi
c. Add "?debug=1" to the link. So the above link will look like: http://192.168.1.49:5000/webman/index.cgi?debug=1
d. Press "Enter", and then the Kernel Log can be downloaded.

Please rename the Kernel Log before sending it.

Due to our mail server filter, we are unable to receive compressed files (the kernel log is compressed). As a work around, please rename the extension of the file. For example, if the extension is .zip or .rar , then rename it to .asd or something like that.

In addition, please provide us with the following information:

We will send you a replacement because the motherboard that you are using does not fully support 1TB drives.

In addition, since disk 4 always fails, please try changing the disk 4 SATA cable to see if it is a SATA cable problem or not.

In afwachting van de actie de synology gaat ondernemen.

Ter afsluiting hierbij nog even de afloop over bovenstaand probleem,
Eind 2008 een nieuw moederbord ontvangen geïnstalleerd, hierna en nog kleine problemen gehad welke werden veroorzaakt door de compatibiliteit van de harde schijven in combinatie met de firmware 2.0 na update naar de 2.1 firmware geen problemen meer ondervonden met het spontaan ontbreken van 1 van de harde schijven in de raid 5 array.

Heb je het zelfde probleem?
update dan je firmware naar 2.1 of hoger.
