Daarnaast diverse process synoscgi_SYNO.xxxxxxx

"Raw photo decoder "dcraw"
dcraw is an open-source computer program which is able to read numerous raw image formats, typically produced by high-end digital cameras. dcraw converts these images into the standard PPM and TIFF image formats. This conversion is sometimes referred to as developing a raw image (by analogy with the process of film development) since it renders raw image sensor data (a "digital negative") into a viewable form.

Hi,
Dcraw is really clogging up my NAS.
I have four instances of this process running on my NAS and they are constantly running 24/7 for months.
I don't have to say it is killing the performance of my nas and I cannot imagine that it is benificial to the processors on board (or the HD's).
I have time and again asked Synology for help, but they keep on stonewalling me.
What program is causing these processes to run constantly?
I have shut down the photo app and multimedia server, and still they keep running.
I have deleted all my raw-formats from the nas, to no avail.
I read that I should enter some lines of code in my nas, but I cannot get a window that would allow me to do that. Why? Telnet and SSH are activated...
Help anyone ?
How can I kill, or at least limit, these processes ?
Kind regards,
Asterixxx

@Asterixxx
I logged into my NAS as root using putty.
Used "ps -x| grep dcraw" to get all PIDs for the dcraw processes. Then killed each process id (handfull) manually.
That stopped indexing. Having said that, this works for me as i dont keep pix on that nas that require indexing. I have no clue how it got to start running in the first place

Hi,
noob questions...
What is Putty ?
is it an app?
Where do I get it ?
How do I kill the processes once I know the PID's ?
Any clue what program uses these dcraw processes ?
Thx

Hi,
I found Putty.
I get a security alert with a fingerprint.
How can I find the fingerprint on my NAS to make sure it is my machine ?

Bijv 12345
Dan geef je als commando "kill 12345"
dan is dat dcraw ding verdwenen

Yes,
But I get a different reply every time,
and when I enter Kill 2839 for example, I get 'No such process' as a reply

Waarom Engels ? Dit is een Nederlands Forum.
-

MY BAD.

Of via mail .?
-
