Niet wipe maar shred in CLI:

for even very expensive hardware probing to recover the data.

If FILE is -, shred standard output.

Mandatory arguments to long options are mandatory for short options too.
  -f, --force    change permissions to allow writing if necessary
  -n, --iterations=N  overwrite N times instead of the default (3)
      --random-source=FILE  get random bytes from FILE
  -s, --size=N   shred this many bytes (suffixes like K, M, G accepted)
  -u             deallocate and remove file after overwriting
      --remove[=HOW]  like -u but give control on HOW to delete;  See below
  -v, --verbose  show progress
  -x, --exact    do not round file sizes up to the next full block;
                   this is the default for non-regular files
  -z, --zero     add a final overwrite with zeros to hide shredding
      --help     display this help and exit
      --version  output version information and exit

Hallo,
Is het mogelijk om de bestanden in bepaalde folders echt te wipen op een Synology NAS?
Is daar een package voor?

Ik update mijn NASsen tegenwoordig altijd manual.
Sinds Synology deze "evaluatie" heeft ingevoerd duurt het bij mij soms weken voordat de update automatisch verschijnt. En als er security updates in een DSM update zitten hoort hij gewoon geinstalleerd te worden, punt. Dat moet Synology niet voor mij proberen te beslissen.

Ja, dat lees je wel vaker in de release notes, 40 keer in deze (all versions)

Wel een mooi stukje tekst : "Your Synology NAS may not notify you of this DSM update because of the following reasons. <knip> Your DSM is working fine without having to update. The system evaluates service statuses and system settings to determine whether it needs to update to this version."

Haal je de koekoek ... Tuurlijk werkt de Nas goed zonder de update. Je loopt enkel wellicht een risico.

Vermoed dat Security issue is aangepakt : linkje. Nog weinig over bekend verder zo ver ik zie.

Wel jammer dat je tegenwoordig bijna altijd weer een restart nodig hebt na een update. Met een aantal I-scsi targets connected vind ik dat nooit zo leuk.

De MG10 20TB die ik drie maanden geleden kocht, is drie exemplaren later al ruim 10% duurder geworden. Ze werden elke maand iets duurder.

Ik vond indertijd de vraag te vaag om te reageren. Alle vragen die bij me opkwamen klonken als open deuren. 

Je hebt het alleen over de capaciteit in uren.  Maar wordt er nu ook plots meer data opgeslagen, of is de opslagruimte kleiner geworden?
