Titel: Characterset on Synology with SABNzbd
Bericht door: Anonymous op 25 januari 2007, 17:45:42
As this the only forum I have been able to locate that focuses specifically on SABnzbd on Synolgy, I'm posting here in English since I don't speak Dutch :-) Sorry bout that.

I have installed the newest version of Sabnzbd on my DS106e and generally it works great!

However, I have a specific problem when downloading files that contains Scandinavian characters like æ, ø and å. These characters are not displayed correctly in the filename and it's not possible to edit, open or delete the files.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Oof, you're not only posting in english, but asking something difficult too. I don't think the problem is at the file system. After all, you can create file having such characters in their names, and you're able to use them. I suspect that samba assumes a default codepage. How do these files look when you approach them by telnet? (just cd into the dir and list the directory by typing ls).
There is no specific setting for encoding in SABnzbd itself. If the filenames are physically wrong too, some conversion is probably skipped in the sabnzbd program. But that would rather be a general SABnzbd bug than something related to the diskstations.

Hi,

I do not know what SABnzbd means, but I have the same character problem with my DS106. That is, on my home PC it can reach and play music from the Norwegian band Royksopp (with the funny y) without problems (using ftp:// in IE), but at my office location the funny Norwegian y is not interpreted properly. One thing can be concluded from this: it is a difference in configuration between the clients, and not something wrong at the DS106. When I know more, I'll post it.

Hello,

I have this problem too with Sabnzbd 0.4.11 on my DS207+.
I just rename the files using Telnet.

Let's say the name of a file is Düm.txt.
In Windows, the filename is displayed with a strange character where the ü should be.
Dir-command in Telnet gives Dm.txt as filename.
To avoid problems, I rename the file to "normal" characters (using Telnet), I put a wildcard at the place of the problem-character:

mv D*m.txt Dum.txt

Afterwards you can change the name in Windows to the name you want, in my case Düm.txt.

Hope this works for you!
