Backup solution From NAS to Cloud/Server needed. (No Sync)
« Gepost op: 17 april 2012, 12:26:07 »
Hello Forum members,
This is my first post to this forum starting with an question about Synology’s Backup solutions. I also created a ticket in the official support system of Synology itself. I Would be happy if anyone could help me on this. Actually I do not believe that only we deal with this problem…

Dear Synology Support,

We are a small IT company in the Netherlands serving around 200 companies in IT service management and server/client maintenance. At the moment we see the marked changing every day including upcoming could technologies like Google Apps and Office 365. The big problem we challenge at the moment is file sharing in LAN’s ad local speed with decent backup possibility’s.  We are familiar with the Synology products and we think one of Sinology’s products would fit perfectly in this picture. Especially for the smaller companies.

The only MAJOR problem we have is the leak of decent backup possibility’s. Maybe we look over it but after a search on Google and Forums we could not find any useful solution. The only “maybe” solution we have found was the Time backup solution.

We think a back-up need’s to work incremental, needs a retention area of a programmable period for example 14 ore 30 days, needs to be capable of restoring files in the state they were at the time backuped, for example; we need to be able to restore a file witch was removed by a user 7 days ago because we have a retention area of 14 days.

I think this is what the time backup basically do but can we perform this kind of backup tasks to an online Backup server (Linux for example?) . The backup solution we already have and witch douse the trick cross platform is Ahsay OBM Server with we host ourselves. Another option is a backup to some cloud like Amazon ore HiDrive.

Can you please advise us in how we shoot backup our customer NAS devices in a good way and please mansion that am looking for a backup solution, not a synchronization between sites.

Manny thanks,

Kind regards,

Patrick Bezemer

marked = market
upcoming could technologies = upcoming cloud technologies
ad local speed = at local speed
Sinology’s = Synology's
the leak of = the lack of
Maybe we look over it = een beetje ver-Engelst nederlands
and witch douse the trick = which does the trick

Kortom, je begrijpt wel wat ik bedoel....
